Artist StatementNusra Nazir Fine Artistwww.nusranazir.comA preoccupation with life, death and cycles with an emphasis on transformations, is prevalent in Nazir’s work. Adopting an intuitive approach, she allows ideas to arise naturally through becoming engrossed in the process of experimenting. Her investigations have led her to explore the physical and spiritual notion of evolution, visible and unseen, and how Nature continuously sheds its old skin to make way for more perfect forms and ideas. She explores colour relationships and the power of the monochrome, favouring intense ultramarine blue, investigating the resonance of this hue beyond the visual medium, exploring also its sound, taking her cue from Kandinsky's theory of colours. She employs a variety of mediums and processes in her work, such as growing organisms, rusting metals, building structures, as well as incorporating sound elements though composing audiomontages of different musicians’ work. Hence, her installations seek to offer a multi-sensory experience for the viewer. Her love of texture compels her to use found objects that have been weathered by the elements, juxtaposing disintegration with organic, flourishing matter. Her work is strongly influenced by the idea of entropy and the power of elemental forces. More recently, Nazir’s work has been centred around exploring sacred geometry and Platonic Solids, playing these against more free-flowing, languishing forms. All images on this website are the property of Nusra Nazir and are protected by copyright laws.Any unauthorised reproduction is strictly prohibited.
